Disformal symmetry in the Universe: mimetic gravity and beyond

چکیده
Abstract Symmetries play an important role in fundamental physics. In gravity and field theories, particular attention has been paid to Weyl (or conformal) symmetry. However, once the theory contains a scalar field, conformal transformations of metric can be considered subclass more general type transformation, so-called disformal transformation. Here, we investigate implications pure symmetry Universe. We derive form invariant tensors from which build most action. argue that, cosmology, amounts require that lapse function is fully replaced by (time-like) at level then show exactly equivalent formulation mimetic gravity. Lastly, go beyond find class invariance leads seemingly Ostrogradski-like (with higher derivatives) Lagrangians, are nevertheless absent Ostrogradski ghosts cosmological background, despite having additional degree freedom. also propose application our formalism new invertible transformations, where coefficient involves derivatives curvature, further expanding space scalar-tensor theories.

Noether Symmetry in f(T) Theory at the anisotropic universe
As it is well known, symmetry plays a crucial role in the theoretical physics. On other hand, the Noether symmetry is a useful procedure to select models motivated at a fundamental level, and to discover the exact solution to the given lagrangian. In this work, Noether symmetry in f(T) theory on a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type I universe is considered. We discuss the Lagran...
متن کاملFractal universe and quantum gravity.
We propose a field theory which lives in fractal spacetime and is argued to be Lorentz invariant, power-counting renormalizable, ultraviolet finite, and causal. The system flows from an ultraviolet fixed point, where spacetime has Hausdorff dimension 2, to an infrared limit coinciding with a standard four-dimensional field theory. Classically, the fractal world where fields live exchanges energ...
متن کاملRepulsive gravity in the very early Universe
I present two examples in which the curvature singularity of a radiationdominated Universe is regularized by (a) the repulsive effects of spin interactions, and (b) the repulsive effects arising from a breaking of the local gravitational gauge symmetry. In both cases the collapse of an initial, asymptotically flat state is stopped, and the Universe bounces towards a state of decelerated expansi...
متن کاملDisformal Inflation
We show how short inflation naturally arises in a non-minimal gravity theory with a scalar field without any potential terms. This field drives inflation solely by its derivatives, which couple to the matter only through the combination ḡμν = gμν − 1 m4∂μφ∂νφ. The theory is free of instabilities around the usual Minkowski vacuum. Inflation lasts as long as φ̇ > m, and terminates gracefully once ...
متن کاملSymmetry, Gravity and Noncommutativity *
We review some aspects of the implementation of spacetime symmetries in noncommutative field theories, emphasizing their origin in string theory and how they may be used to construct theories of gravitation. The geometry of canonical noncommutative gauge transformations is analysed in detail and it is shown how noncommutative Yang-Mills theory can be related to a gravity theory. The constructio...
